As one of the first African American R&B soulful artists ever to land a nationwide video on BET from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Jimmy Allgood was destined for greatness. With Jimmy's passion, motivation, and talents, he landed an album deal with a major independent record label - Ray's Records by the age of 18. In 1993, his album "Touch It" was released in a regional area. His first single "Special" quickly reached the number 2 spot in several markets and even landed the number 1 spot in his hometown of Chattanooga. In 1994, Ray's Records released 'One Eye Watching you sung by Jimmy and debuted with a video on television network BET. Jimmy's video played for 79 consecutive days, making him a known national artist nationwide. Jimmy then came out with the remake of "Sara Smile," originally sung by Pop duo Daryl Hall and John Oats. Allgood had the chance to work with amazing artists such as Celo, Lo-Key?, and Xscape. He opened for Usher in Chattanooga, Ginuwine, Howard Hewett, and Keith Washington in Atlanta. Jimmy also opened for Lenny William's MC Lightfoot, the comedian. Jimmy Allgood performed at events like "The Teachers Awards," a red-carpet event in Atlanta Georgia, Sherry Gordy's "Motown Takes The Stage," and "Riverbend" in his hometown. Jimmy was recognized by the city of Chattanooga and Mayor Andy Berke for putting in hard work with his craft and being a positive influence and representing his city. Allgood was honored with a framed and signed photo right in the downtown area of the City Cafe wall in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with many other celebrities and stars.
